Upcoming "Water as Technology" Activations
The “Water as Technology” Open Residency has been so dreamy! So many conversations around our relationship with water, technology, bodies, plants, communications, the erotic.
I will most definitely do a write up post at the end of it to share my thoughts on the format and all that was shared in this space.
We are approaching Day 5 now, so I wanted to highlight the upcoming workshops as well as some of the daily prompts we have been working with as residents :)
TODAY APR 29th THE FLUID THAT CONNECTS US: AN EROTIC JOURNALING WORKSHOP W PRIYA FLORENCE 5-730pm EST | Virtual (Zoom)
This journaling workshop will provide a virtual space, facilitated by Priya Florence, for individuals to respond to various prompts that will allow us to draw connections between all things fluid and pleasure, eroticism, and sensation. In addition to creating space for participants to respond to these prompts and share in circle, Priya will be leading a somatic grounding, visual meditation, and water-play experiment that will allow participants to begin connecting to their bodies in ways that feel affirming, wam, and safe.
UPCOMING:
SATURDAY APRIL 30TH, 2022
POURING IN AN EXPLORATION OF WATER AND THE BODY W. POLINA IONINA 1-3pm EST | In Person (Otion Front Studio - 1196 Myrtle Ave)
Capacity: FULL(RSVP for Waitlist)
Pouring In is an exploratory workshop that will focus on how the body stores and releases emotional information. We will take inspiration from Dr. Masaru Imoto, who discovered that crystals formed in frozen water reveal changes when specific thoughts are directed at them. “He found that water from clear springs and water that has been exposed to loving words shows brilliant, complex, and colorful snowflake patterns. In contrast, polluted water, or water exposed to negative thoughts, forms incomplete, asymmetrical patterns with dull colors.” This research suggests that we have the ability to impact our bodies, which are about 60% water for personal and collective health with awareness and intention.
In this workshop, we will connect with the vibrancy of water, release stagnated energy through movement meditation practices, and play with the idea of programming our body with healing intentions. All are welcome to attend!
Please bring: A bottle of water, A bowl (absolutely any vessel that can hold water will work perfectly), A yoga mat/towel/anything you will be comfortable laying down on, and Clothing that you can easily move in.
SUNDAY MAY 1ST, 2022
THE TIDE ALWAYS RISES: VENERATING THE RE-EMERGING WATERS OF BROOKLYN W. KALE MAYS 11am-1pm EST | In Person (Prospect Park Lake) | BIPOC ONLY
In spite of its unlimited access to cutting-edge engineering and infrastructural technologies, the City of New York's only way to predict lethal flash floods is to study the ancient pathways of the waters that were systematically buried in the name of progress and development. As this paved paradise sinks beneath our feet, the marshes and streams that once permeated these lands are re-emerging faster than their detractors could have ever imagined.
In this blend of knowledge share and activation ceremony, we rise to greet the waters and grieve for those who have been swept away. Using historical maps, plantation documents, wadda sticks (aka dowsing rods), and oral histories, we will seek to gain a better understanding of what this land will become - with or without the city's permission.
Please bring offerings to share with the land and the water, and a drinking vessel for tea. This event is fully outdoors, so layer up and bring blankets to sit on if you tend to get chilly :)
more soon more soon,
